Hello there food lovers, food curious and those of you who (like me!) base their travel plans around food. Pen and Spoon is a weekly newsletter for people who want the inside track on food and food writing. I’m Sue Quinn and I’ve been a food journalist for more than fifteen years, written fourteen cookbooks (about to publish the 15th!) and won a couple of awards. In that time, I’ve seen interest in food explode.

Why subscribe to Pen and Spoon?

From the front line of food writing, Pen and Spoon offers a glimpse behind the scenes, driven by my curiosity about food. What are the food stories mainstream media aren’t running? How do you write a cookbook (and get one commissioned)? How do you develop a recipe? How do restaurants get reviewed? What’s a “food socialite”? Where are the very best places to eat?

This is a whole new ballgame for me and, to be honest, I don’t have it all worked out yet. But I can promise thoughtful and incisive writing, weekly recipes, interviews with influential food types, inside info, restaurants reviews, travel pieces and more.

Subscribe and you’ll never miss an update and you’ll get the recipe and newsletter straight to your inbox. For the time being, Pen and Spoon will be released every week - other work gets in the way occasionally but it will be between Thursday and Sunday.

Why pay to subscribe?

That’s the million dollar question, I know. First, I’d love your financial support because I believe (or I’m trying believe, because writers tend to undervalue what we do) that my words are worth something. Each newsletter involves many hours of thinking, researching and writing, and all my recipes are thoroughly tested.

For the time being, all my newsletters and recipes will be free but down the track a bit, parts will go behind a paywall. Paid subscribers will also full access to the newsletter and juicy extras: access to videos, conversations, events and more.
